/10About this Hop
Whitbread Goldings Variety has a distinctive and robust flavour and although Goldings features in its name, it is more likely to have Fuggle pedigree based on its Farnasene content.
Breeding
An open pollinated seedling of Bates Brewer, selected in 1911 on the Beltring, Kent farm of the late Mr E A White, which was later bought by the Whitbread Brewery Company, WGV was recognised for its tolerance to wilt in 1932 and released for UK planting in 1953. It is however, susceptible to both downy and powdery mildews.
